Today I’m going to post a gem I’ve always been very excited about. Growing up, my all time favorite show was the original Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Paving the way for the current Adult Swim, Space Ghost was thee best child and adult cartoon of the 90’s . . . and ever. Its humor was far before it’s time. Seeing your favorite celebrities interact with your favorite cartoon characters is awesome. Literally every-person you loved about the 90’s, has probably been a guest from Billy Nye to Bob OdenKirk.
Anyway I was just going to keep going on about why I love the show but remembered how bad of a writer I am and decided to get to the clip of the day.
Here’s a clip from one of my favorite episodes of all time. #48 Pavement. If you love Pavement and SpaceGhost, your pumped.
The icing on the cake, is both of those songs rule.
Today was Philadelphia’s Bi-Annual Punk Rock Flea Market.

Which means saddle up and by some crap your psyched on! I bought a super old school plastic skateboard for 2, a hotdog on a surfboard for 1, and 3 GWAR VHS tapes for 8. I went with IRA card holding member Andrew. Also took a bunch of artists cards so I can check them out later on the internet. It was a well needed and excellent source of smiling at strangers and striking up fun conversations. Plus buddies Herbin Shellinbaaacka was selling millions of Audio circles. neighborhood Cute brigade Leah and Juli set up a Scrapple fort plus cute baby clothes.

Buddy Brian tried selling Tony Hawk 3 (is he out of his fucking mind.) I also met 2 great gals at the Yelp Reviews table.

Well didn’t fully meet, more like chatted with. Anyway it inspired me to right this loose review on my neighborhood.
Living in the Faimount area for about 2 years has it’s perks. One of which is living so close to a giant castle like prison.

If your looking for a review of the historic tours, I don’t know anything about that (except the audio tour is voiced by Steve Buscemi).

However I do know there’s a solid coffee shop called mugshots across the street. I find a relaxing routine in drinking coffee while sitting on the prison ledge on a nice afternoon.

Mugshots is also a free trade business with many organic options, a real guilt free establishment. Head over there and get a crush on one of the employees STAT.
There’s also a great bar across the street called the Urban Saloon. To get through the door you often must be wearing sandals, a collared polo shirt, and be psyched on the new Dave album.

I’m just messing around, but seriously did you get that thing I forwarded you Karen?!

I’ve actually never been in there but, impressions you know . . . back to the prison. You are probably familiar with the fact that Al Capone spent time in the prison, and also of its ghost stories. However the buzz around the neighborhood recently is that there are these cars that drive through the cell blocks at night. But there not like regular cars, they like change into these robot figures, it’s like their . . . Transformers (2). So get your cargo shorts on and get that blue tooth in your ear, because the guys at the Gaffer truck need more water, and the on set art directer needs a hot brick. (that’s a battery for his walkie talkie.)
After a roughing the open road on my bucking Buick LaSabre in Upstate new york for a week, I’m home. If you noticed I changed the blogs look up a bit, and changed the name to a shorter simpler, “Denim Cowboy.” In the past year I’ve been driving all over the country from California, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas City, and most places in between. Standard Protocol was sleeping in my car in rest stops and wherever I parked. At some point on one journey, waking up at one of many rest stops, I remember thinking, “This is the closest to a cowboy I may ever get.” And thats pretty much where the name of the blog came from. Just about roughing it hard, and alone.
So I was up to Ithaca and Binghamton shooting for the documentary. Spent some time at the annual Ithaca Festival where some buddies set up a box jump. My bud Mickey Marshal is also on the East Coast for a while killing it.

I unfortunately messed up my tailbone losing the bike on a nac-nac. This one went well though.

However directly next to the jump set up this happened. Which may be in Guinness. I may be in there somewhere.

I’ve really come to enjoy Ithaca, it’s quite a friendly town. I’ve met some awesome folks in my time there and appreciate their friendliness. Yesterday was my last day in Ithaca. I rose in the morning at 7:30 and had an interview to shoot at 6PM. It was a pretty slow day wondering the town. I went to a coffee establishment called Gimme Coffee. Great place, solid coffee, and the owners a funny one. She supposedly makes wild wedding cakes. Which impregnated me with the idea of someone tackling a Lionel Richie Cake.

At one point in the day some little kid was on one of those little kid bikes attached to moms, he rang his bell at me and smiled at me, awesome. The interview was with an awesome bud who gave a great interview as he got tattooed.
For the second time in almost a month I past up getting my 20 dollar pop-tarts tattoo.

Upon my ride home I was greeted with a bad omen, crossing an intersection in the middle of nowhere 20 miles WEST of 79 I drove over a Darth Maul mask in the road. Pretty remarkable. When I hit the first toll my drivers side electric window stopping working with it rolled down. It was a windy 2 hours back.
In other news. I GOT A SKATEBOARD! Yeehaw I’m 10 again. Here’s a photo of the Roman Rip board from Myrtle Stuff. Myrtle is a project I’m real pumped on from Artist Russ Pope. He’s rad, google him now.

His find board is sitting next to my Ugly board I arted on like 8 years ago. Sitting next to that is a poster from the Rage Against the Machine/ Wu-tang Clan Tour. Sitting above them all is the Petsmart.com dog (R.I.P.).
I have a bunch of random stuff on my brain to post about but I’ll cut this one short. There may be more today.
keep on keepin on.
Yesterday was a fairly fun day in the books. I rose early and hit the Camden Aquarium with my good friend Juli. I shot a bunch of sea life footage for an upcoming music video I’m going to be doing with some buds Future Islands.

Later that night I headed to the Ponytail and Future Islands show at the copy Gallery. I think I met Ponytail almost 2 years ago when they stayed at the house I was living in at the time. Since then their shows have been a great opportunity to get together with the circle of buds and have an awesome time. While working out in Los Angeles last summer I had the pleasure of hanging out with the Ponytail gang at 2 of their shows. The show last night was exceptionally great. Kids were psyched and jiving hard. At one point I got the entire crowd to get down on there knees and pretend to be seaweed. It was a pretty moment. Here’s some photos.

Although I’ll try, I’m not sure I’ll be able to update daily over the next few days. I’ll be traveling shooting for the documentary and should arrive back sometime next week.

Sometimes kicking music in the balls and waking it up needs more then one super artist.

CAN IT BE?! Yes, and it rules. It’s awesome. Check out the BPA with this awesome video for Toe Jam. I apologize for not having the director and more information.
As I right you this post. I’m at my neighbors house watching American Werewolf in Paris, while singing American Werewolf in Calgary, While wishing I was watching American Werewolf in London.
Todays post is about a legend, someone who I unfortunately have not been able to fully appreciate till now. Bo Diddley’s the name. I remember sitting in my 5th grade classroom, I was bored and staring at the back of the “Famous Guitars” t-shirt the kid was wearing in front of me.

I was reading over the guitar names and artists Eddie Van Halen, Kurt Cobaine . . . then, THE TWANG MACHINE, Bo Diddley’s Guitar. I remember being stunned by what I thought to be the coolest guitar I’ve ever seen.

That particular guitar has always been a personal favorite of mine, I mean I don’t know a rats heck about guitars, but look at that thing.
So if you haven’t heard, it was just recently that Bo Diddley passed away, and it’s just now that I’m learning more about they guy. The more I’ve been reading the more I love the guy. I’ve check out some of his performances and he shreds. enjoy.
“I was out to destroy the audience. I wanted to destroy ‘em, just make the toughest dude in the crowd pat his foot. I’d find a groove to get ‘em by watching feet, and once I got one guy moving, I’d start working on the dude sitting next to him.” –Bo Diddley
While writing this post I remember my friend Victor made a guitar or did something guitar related for Warren Zevon. Who sang Werewolf in London.
Full Circle Rough Necks.
So who knows where this blog is actually headed. 7 People read it today . . . I’m pumped!
So lately i’ve been taking my impulse to randomly bark out words and noises to a new level. For the past month or two, My vocabulary has been riddled with Jamaican slang. With my most used Deahhhh, and Bloodcot, to the occasional BEEE o BEEEE. I’m actually not even sure what falls into actual slang derivative from Jamaica.
I was exposed to all this slang while on a motorcycle trip down south shooting for the documentary i’ve been doing. I was sleeping on the floor of some hotel room falling asleep to Marked by Death, a movie about Steven Segal up against a dangerous Jamaican Gang Leader.
You can watch the trailer HERE
That was all I sort of wanted to get out in this post. On a personal note, I’m pumped on possibly collaborating with a rad Baltimore band on a music video. And I believe a music video I directed for VH1 show will air sometime in July. However that is a rumored air date.
Until Next time, Deahhhh Cowboy, Deahhhh
I love magazines. I can really appreciate a bookstore with a solid Magazine rack. It’s a bit addicting, and also probably is analogous to how I buy candy based on colorful packaging. A few days after graduating College I woke up, and with a itch for sophistication I subscribed to 2 magazines, and I’m about to subscribe to another today.
While browsing the magazine area of my hometown bookstore today I came across “Mean Magazine.” I couldn’t distinguish really what kind of magazine it was at first. However I was legitimately pumped on every article. The subculture is probably, “All the people your psyched on.”
This issue was Dennis Hopper, awesome. Errol Morris, Awesome. Chuck Palahniuk, I hear he’s awesome but I can’t read so good. Harmony Korine. Dan Deacon. Tim and Eric. Matt Furie!!
I am excited to see such a diverse magazine . It would seem to be publishing a “League of extraordinary Gentleman”(and women) in its issues.
One of the most exciting things I think about finishing the documentary feature i’ve been doing is to work at getting articles in magazines. Gosh that’d be awesome.
